Check out Paul's Ponderings today. His post was very well written and something I think we all need to read from time to time. Here is a snippet:
As we are in this fight with sin one of the most effective weapons we can use is letting our lives be consumed by doing good. We cannot simply remove sin from our lives because otherwise we create a vacuum that needs to be filled.

Go and read my post. The passage I used to build my thought (Galatians 5:16-18, NLT) says; "So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives"... So you are correct that the Holy Spirit needs to be part of our lives and He will guide us to the good works that God planned for us to do which will take place of the sin we throw out of our lives.
