Science Fiction

The great thing about the human mind is our imagination. It has helped us ask questions about our surroundings and to search out the answers. It also has helped us write some of the greatest works of fiction ever written...

Fiction is not fact, though. Sometimes it can become fact as in the case of Jules Verne's submarines and Isaac Asimov's robots. That is why this realm of fiction is known as Science Fiction. It is based in scientific theory that the author imagines someday could become scientific fact.

But some science fiction is based on theories that have already been proven false or is losing favor with the scientific community. The big bang is one of those theories.

Macro Evolution (not micro evolution) is another one of these theories that has little to no evidence of its ability to change us from one species to another new one. Yet it is a popular theory in such SciFi movies and shows like X-Men, MutantX, Heroes and Smallville.

I love science fiction for helping me expand my mind but I always keep in mind that what I'm watching may be possible science someday but not necessarily. It could also be just fiction.
