In case you were interested

Yesterday I mentioned that I have begun reading the Bible again daily. I thought I should provide a simple help guide for anyone that might be interested in doing the same. You shouldn't just open up the Bible at the beginning and expect to understand it all. Choosing where you are at in life from my list below and reading accordingly might help.

Also, I'm not going to provide anything more than the scripture references. If you are serious about reading look them up! If you do not have a Bible there are several online Bibles to choose from. I recommend Bible Gateway. Enter the Book Chapter:Verse to look things up.

Many translations are available. I recommend New Internation Version (NIV) or New King James Version (NKJV) for beginners. The Amplified Bible (AMP) is also good for a more in depth study and, if you are more of the poetic type, the Message Bible is a good paraphrased version to look at.

Good luck and God bless!

1. Curious but not a Christian? I recommend you start reading the Bible with what is called the "Romans Road"
Romans 3:23
Romans 6:23
Romans 5:8
Romans 10:13
Romans 10:9-10
If you need something to tell you what you just read click here.

2. New Believer? I recommend reading the Gospel of John. Do not confuse with 1 John, 2 John or 3 John. Those are later in the New Testament. John is an account of the life of Jesus emphasising God's love and mercy to us.

3. Ready for more than that? Go to the Old Testament book of Proverbs. There are 31 chapters. Choose one chapter a day to read. It can become tedious at times but its lumped full of wisdom and a good way to get a habit of reading formed.

4. After that? I would seriously consider reading 1 Corinthians, Ephesians, 1 Timothy and James. They are good foundations for walking a Christian life.

The rest is up to you! Many like doing the "read the Bible in a year" thing. Others want to go in depth on more challenging sections. I'm not here to tell you how to read your Bible but only to encourage you to do so and provide a guideline on how to get started.

Let me know if this helps at all! :)
